Backend Developer Position

We are seeking a talented Backend Developer to join our team. As a key member of our development squad, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing the back-end infrastructure for our high-traffic platforms.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Infrastructure Management: Optimize AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFront, Lambda, Kinesis) for resilience, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Back-end Development: Engineer the backend (Node.js, Python) that powers our Next.js/Vercel platform - prioritizing speed and reliability.
  • Performance Tuning: Drive web performance optimization - debugging bottlenecks, fine-tuning APIs, managing caching/CDN, and delivering consistently fast experiences worldwide.
  • CMS Pipelines: Evolve our WordPress CMS pipelines to ensure content delivery is robust and scalable.
  • Ongoing Support: Take ownership of uptime, infra budgets, SLAs, and monitoring alerts, working closely with DevOps and product leads.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Advanced AWS Skills: Proven expertise in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CDK) and cost optimization at scale.
  • High-Traffic Experience: Experience running high-traffic platforms with real-world debugging and performance tuning.
  • Back-end Expertise: Strong knowledge of Node.js, Python, modern database systems.
  • Product Mindset: A product-focused approach - balancing speed vs. polish while keeping fan experience top of mind.
  • Software Development: 4+ years in software development (consumer products preferred).
  • Next.js and Vercel: Curiosity and adaptability with Next.js and Vercel (or intent to learn).
  • Collaborative Spirit: Collaborative spirit, problem-solving mindset, and ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
