Dam Break Analysis and Emergency Response Specialist

This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of hydrology, safety inspections, and emergency planning.

  • About the Role:
  • We are seeking an expert who can lead the preparation of Tier-I documents following international best practices and national guidelines.
  • The successful candidate will provide technical support for Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) development and finalization, facilitate stakeholder consultation meetings, and review plans presented by Project Support Teams (PSTs).
  • Key responsibilities include designing and delivering customized training courses on Dam Break Analysis, Inundation Mapping, and EAPs preparation, as well as conducting capacity building programs for DRIP Implementing Agencies (IAs) and performing integrated flood routing studies for cascades of reservoirs.
  • Ongoing tasks involve assisting in the finalization of integrated operations of important or cascade reservoirs, undertaking need-based flood routing studies, and conducting dam safety inspections.
  • The selected candidate will also develop and implement training calendars and schedules aligned with the annual DRIP Calendar, provide inputs for revision and formulation of guidelines related to dam safety and EAPs, and contribute data and insights to the National Dam Safety Information System and Management Information System (MIS).
  • Additionally, they will participate in national and international conferences via technical paper submissions and presentations, support preparation of Project Rehabilitation Reports (PRRs), and assist in the finalization and training of the Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance (CS&QA) Manual and Plan.
