Housekeeping Manager Job Description

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement business strategies for the hotel that align with overall mission, vision, values, and strategies.
  • Design and execute strategies for housekeeping operations.
  • Monitor status regularly and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Manage housekeeping, public space, and laundry areas to ensure cleanliness and restocking.
  • Develop processes, procedures, and standards for assigned departments to support service and financial goals.
  • Create annual budget; monitor achievement and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Conduct regular inspections of rooms, public space, and back-of-house areas.
  • Determine staffing levels based on forecasted business and schedule employees accordingly.
  • Develop training programs for customer service, technical skills, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for employees and guests by adhering to regulations and training staff.
  • Oversee inventory, purchasing, and cost control for linens, cleaning supplies, and other essentials.
  • Manage laundry operations (in-house or outsourced).
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards in assigned departments.
  • Coordinate room availability with the Front Office Manager.
  • Work with the Chief Engineer to coordinate room maintenance.
  • Develop employee engagement strategies and practices.
  • Recruit and select qualified candidates.
  • Provide orientation and training to new employees.
  • Communicate performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Coach and counsel employees to achieve performance objectives and potential.
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences through genuine hospitality and exceeding expectations.
  • Take personal responsibility, use teamwork, and give personal attention to provide outstanding guest service.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Proven experience in housekeeping management or a related field.
  • Certifications in hospitality, safety, or a related field are desirable.
