Senior Software Development Engineer in Test

A Senior Software Development Engineer in Test will be responsible for testing the REST APIs and backend web services applications. They will collaborate with product owners and architects to understand the software solution and present reports on testing progress, quality metrics, and any critical issues.


Main Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the complete product development cycle starting from analysis, architecture, design, automation, testing of software, and release.
  • Develop test plans, test cases, and review them.
  • Automate test cases using frameworks like Selenium/Playwright/Cypress.
  • Conduct automation testing, manual testing, performance testing, profiling, and benchmarking testing.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to senior and junior members of the team.
  • Lead and participate in technical initiatives, code reviews, and design discussions.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve testing processes, procedures, and tools to ensure quality and efficiency.

Skill Set:
  • Minimum 8-12 years of professional experience in SDET.
  • Programming languages: Java/Typescript/Python/C#.
  • Web technologies and protocols: Understanding web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HTTP, HTTPS, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, Angular, React, jQuery.
  • Automation frameworks and tools: Proficiency in automation frameworks like Selenium/Playwright/Cypress, test automation tools like TestNG, JUnit, or NUnit.
  • API testing: Understanding the principles and characteristics of APIs, knowledge in constructing requests, parsing responses, and identifying issues.
  • Performance testing tools: Understanding types of performance tests load/stress/endurance testing, understanding performance metrics response time, throughput, concurrency.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Tools like Jenkins/Bamboo/Buildkite, integrating the automation into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Leadership and mentoring: Guiding and mentoring other team members, providing technical expertise and guidance.
  • Communication and collaboration: Communicating testing progress to stakeholders, gathering requirements, clarifying expectations, and resolving issues.
  • Agile methodologies: Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban, planning for iterative development cycles, manage frequent releases.
  • Risk assessment and mitigation: Ability to identify and mitigate risks related to software quality.
  • Resource management: Resource allocation and team management, assess the efficiency and productivity of the testing team.
  • Candidates should have a good knowledge of the AWS/Azure cloud platform.

Key Result Area:
  • Timely delivery of test cases and automated tests on a sprint-to-sprint basis.
  • Automation coverage to be at least 90% in the project.
  • Effective reporting of work and reports.
