Job Title: Data Governance Strategist

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled professional to manage the development and execution of enterprise-wide data governance initiatives. This role will oversee the strategic management of data as a valuable asset, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations, maintaining data quality, and promoting ethical data use across the organization.

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing against evolving data governance strategy and objectives, partnering with business and technology leaders to shape and advance an enterprise-wide data governance framework that ensures data is accurate, accessible, consistent, and secure.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Contribute to the development of the enterprise-wide data governance team, strategy, framework, and supporting processes, including data ownership, stewardship, quality, and accountability frameworks.
  2. Define and enforce data ownership and stewardship by establishing clear roles and responsibilities for data owners and stewards across business units.
  3. Facilitate cross-functional stewardship programs and councils to ensure accountability for authoritative data sources, data quality, accuracy, lineage, privacy, and compliance.
  4. Drive data quality and integrity initiatives by developing and implementing data quality standards, validation rules, and monitoring processes.
  5. Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to remediate data issues and improve trust in enterprise data assets.
  6. Direct the classification of data assets based on sensitivity, regulatory impact, and business value.
  7. Partner with Privacy, Security, and Legal teams to ensure appropriate controls are applied to sensitive and regulated data.
  8. Develop and maintain governance policies and compliance frameworks aligned with privacy regulations.
Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you should have a bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Information Management, Data Science) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance or a related field. You should be proficient in executing against well-defined procedures and processes and have foundational technical expertise.

A self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to multitask effectively, and deal with change and ambiguity in a diverse environment. You should also have a working understanding of the financial services industry and products and services.
