We are seeking a skilled DBA to manage PostgreSQL and Cloud SQL databases in a remote long-term contract position. This role requires expertise in database architecture, high availability, and optimization in enterprise environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL and Cloud SQL databases.
  • Perform advanced SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and schema design.
  • Manage database upgrades, migrations, patching, and version control.
  • Implement and monitor replication, clustering, and failover solutions for high availability.
  • Ensure database security, compliance, integrity, and backup/recovery strategies.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and improve database architecture.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, providing on-call support for critical systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience with PostgreSQL (installation, configuration, replication, backup/recovery, tuning).
  • Strong expertise with Cloud SQL (MySQL) and advanced SQL performance tuning.
  • Solid background in Oracle DBA (RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, performance tuning).
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems for database administration.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience migrating from SQL to PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of database monitoring tools and observability solutions.
