Security Strategist

The Security Strategist will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive security strategy to protect information assets and technologies. This includes safeguarding systems, networks, and data against internal and external threats while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement security policies, standards, and procedures to protect against potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of security architectures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, encryption solutions, and other security technologies.
  • Lead the development and execution of security awareness and training programs for all employees to foster a culture of security awareness throughout the organization.
  • Direct the identification, assessment, and mitigation of security risks across all aspects of operations, including applications, infrastructure, and third-party vendors.
  • Monitor and analyse security incidents and breaches, and coordinate incident response activities to minimise impact and prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, legal, compliance, and business units, to integrate security requirements into business processes and systems development life cycles.
  • Stay abreast of emerging threats, industry trends, and best practices in cybersecurity, and assess their potential impact on the organization's security posture.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, auditors, and other external stakeholders on matters related to information security and compliance.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to executive leadership and the board of directors on the state of the security program, including key metrics, risks, and initiatives.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 7+ years of experience in information security roles, with a minimum of 2+ years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing comprehensive information security programs in a complex, multi-platform environment.
  • Deep understanding of security frameworks, standards, and regulations, such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO/IEC 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of network security, encryption, identity and access management, security operations, and incident response.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
