Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain mainframe storage subsystems for optimal compatibility, performance, and reliability.
  • Perform strategic storage capacity planning and provisioning to meet current and future storage requirements.
  • Configure and manage storage management software and utilities for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and optimize storage performance and resource utilization, identifying potential bottlenecks.
  • Implement robust disaster recovery and data replication solutions for mainframe storage systems.
  • Collaborate with teams to support data backup and recovery operations and data migration projects.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation and standards for storage administration tasks.
  • Provide expert technical support for troubleshooting and resolving storage-related issues.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent military experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in mainframe storage subsystems, architecture, and management.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage management software and utilities such as DFSMS, DFSMSdss, and DFSMSrmm.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage virtualization technologies and concepts, including DASD, VTS, and SAN/NAS storage provisioning.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage networking protocols and technologies, such as FICON, Fibre Channel, and SCSI.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • IBM Certified Specialist - Storage Technical V2 or equivalent certification in Mainframe storage administration.
  • 5+ years of experience with mainframe virtualization technologies such as z/VM and z/Linux.
  • 4+ years of experience utilizing DevOps practices and tools for mainframe storage administration and automation.
