Mainframe Storage System Engineer

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Storage System Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining Mainframe storage subsystems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Mainframe storage subsystems to ensure compatibility, performance, and reliability.
  • Develop and implement storage capacity planning and provisioning strategies to meet current and future storage requirements.
  • Configure and manage storage management software and utilities to automate storage administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor storage performance and resource utilization, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and optimizing data placement.
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery and data replication solutions for Mainframe storage systems.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, database administrators, and application teams to support data backup and recovery operations and data migration projects.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and standards for storage administration tasks.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to internal teams and end-users, troubleshooting and resolving storage-related issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in Mainframe storage subsystems architecture and management.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage management software and utilities such as DFSMS, DFSMSdss, and DFSMSrmm.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage virtualization technologies and concepts including DASD, VTS, and SAN/NAS storage provisioning.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage networking protocols and technologies such as FICON, Fibre Channel, and SCSI.
