Mainframe Testing Engineer Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Testing Engineer to ensure the quality and performance of mainframe applications through rigorous testing processes.

  • Develop and execute test cases for mainframe applications, focusing on both functional and non-functional testing.
  • Monitor and maintain test environments while coordinating with development teams for defect management.
  • Perform regression testing and ensure that software updates do not adversely affect existing functionality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide feedback on application functionality.
  • Conduct performance and stress testing to assess system stability and responsiveness.

Key Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-11 years of experience in mainframe testing, preferably in banking and financial services.
  • Experience with testing tools such as BMC Mainframe Tools or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of COBOL, JCL, and databases (DB2, IMS).
  • Ability to create and execute complex SQL queries for data validation.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and tools is a plus.
Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Developing and executing comprehensive test plans for mainframe applications.
  2. Maintaining accurate records of test results and defects identified during testing.
  3. Collaborating with development teams to resolve defects and improve application quality.
  4. Providing regular status updates on testing progress and any issues encountered.
