Senior Cassandra Database Administrator Role

As a senior database administrator, you will be responsible for creating, managing and optimizing our NoSQL databases. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the team to manage both SQL-based and NoSQL databases.
  • Managing high-transaction rate databases, including configuration, administration, monitoring, security management, performance optimization, replication, troubleshooting and backup.
  • Installing, configuring and upgrading nodes in high availability clusters.
  • Ensuring proper monitoring, alerting, capacity planning and reporting in the production environment.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in designing, maintaining and administering NoSQL databases, as well as traditional SQL-based databases. They will also have experience with scripting languages, monitoring and alerting systems, and industry-standard operational practices.

Requirements:
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in designing, maintaining and administering NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB)
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in designing, maintaining and administering traditional SQL-based databases (MySQL, MariaDB, Percona)
  • Experience managing Kafka message bus infrastructures preferred
  • Experience automating management of systems and databases using common scripting languages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting systems
  • Experience with industry-standard operational practices
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline required
