Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Migration Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with SQL Server upgrades, Always On Availability Groups, and cloud migrations (AWS preferred). The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and executing SQL Server upgrade projects, designing and configuring Always On Availability Groups in production environments, and planning and implementing database migrations to AWS (RDS, EC2, or other services) with minimal downtime.

About the Role

The Database Migration Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the performance, availability, security, and scalability of mission-critical databases. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and executing SQL Server upgrade projects, including migration from legacy versions to SQL Server 2022.
  • Designing, configuring, and managing Always On Availability Groups (HA/DR) in production environments.
  • Planning and implementing database migrations to AWS (RDS, EC2, or other services) with minimal downtime.
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing SQL Server performance (queries, indexes, statistics, execution plans).
  • Performing regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery testing.
  • Collaborating with application and infrastructure teams to ensure database reliability and efficiency.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation, including runbooks and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with security standards, policies, and best practices.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience upgrading SQL Server to 2022 in production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Always On Availability Groups and other HA/DR solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database migration (DMS, RDS, EC2, or hybrid solutions).
  • Proficiency in T-SQL development, performance tuning, and query optimization.
  • Solid understanding of backup/recovery strategies and database security.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell or automation tools for database administration is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
