Job Role

Kafka Professionals oversee the implementation, management, and maintenance of scalable Apache Kafka clusters to facilitate high-performance data streaming and real-time analytics. They are responsible for monitoring cluster health, performance, and capacity planning to ensure reliability and security.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, upgrade, and manage Apache Kafka clusters.
  • Monitor Kafka cluster health, performance, and capacity planning.
  • Manage topics, partitions, brokers, consumer groups, and access control policies.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot Kafka-related issues.
  • Evaluate and optimize Kafka performance for large-scale data processing.
  • Develop and implement deployment and monitoring processes using scripts or tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Kafka with applications.
  • Enhance Kafka security, backup, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Document Kafka standards, operational runbooks, and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in Kafka Administration and support.
  • Proficiency in Apache Kafka ecosystem (Zookeeper, Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, Kafka Streams).
  • Cloud expertise: Azure or AWS (experience managing Kafka clusters on cloud platforms like Confluent Cloud, MSK, or HDInsight).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix system administration and shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, etc.).
  • Understanding of networking, security, and performance tuning principles.

Desirable Skills

  • Confluent Kafka experience.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Terraform).
  • Exposure to DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines).
