Assistant Manager Job Description

As a key player in our team, you will be responsible for managing various aspects of claims handling. Your primary role will involve monitoring and resolving recovery actions related to outstanding freight, detention, and demurrage, as well as abandoned and longstanding containers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • In case of new claims, ensure timely acknowledgment within 24 hours and gather relevant documents for reporting to Head Office.
  • Provide expert advice on the merits of each claim and assist in future steps, including court cases.
  • Monitor and handle all matters related to Protection & Indemnity (P&I), such as cargo claims, stowage, and third-party damages to our containers and cargo.
  • Handle debt recoveries in accordance with applicable tribunal regulations and draft necessary agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures implemented by our Head Office Legal Department across our network.
  • Offer guidance and support to branch offices on handling legal matters.
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to other departments on shipping-related issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A minimum graduate degree is required.
  • Prior experience in the shipping industry, preferably with Cargo/Marine claims experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, good analytical skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
