Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Job Description:

• Develop 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software, bringing precision to the design process.

• Create part models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings with a focus on mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring seamless integration.

• Interpret engineering sketches and specifications to produce accurate and efficient designs, meeting project requirements.

• Collaborate with engineers and other designers to ensure design intent and project requirements are met, fostering effective teamwork.

• Perform design checks, tolerance analysis, and ensure manufacturability of components, upholding high standards.

• Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into models and drawings, driving continuous improvement.

• Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with project and industry codes, upholding regulatory requirements.

• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical designs with structural, piping, and electrical systems, promoting harmonious collaboration.

• Support the preparation of BOMs (Bill of Materials), fabrication drawings, and technical documentation, facilitating smooth communication.

• Assist in the development of design automation tools and templates within CAD software, streamlining processes and enhancing productivity.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Diploma/Engineering Graduate in Mechanical or Production Engineering with 3 to 7 years of experience, bringing relevant academic background and industry expertise.
  • Proficient in CAD software, possessing strong software skills.
  • Experience in designing mechanical systems, equipment layouts, and fabrication drawings, showcasing practical application of theoretical knowledge.
  • Familiarity with international design standards and codes, demonstrating adaptability and awareness of global best practices.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, material selection, and manufacturing processes, ensuring comprehensive knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple design tasks simultaneously, showcasing self-motivation and organizational skills.
  • Experience in working on multidisciplinary projects in sectors like Mining, Chemical, or Industrial Plants, highlighting versatility and adaptability.
  • Knowledge of data management systems and version control practices, demonstrating awareness of industry-standard workflows.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with simulation tools for basic FEA, showcasing analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exposure to Plant 3D, Navisworks, or other Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools is a plus, indicating flexibility and openness to new technologies.
  • Familiarity with piping and structural interfaces in mechanical design, highlighting ability to work with complex systems.
  • The ability to automate repetitive design tasks using scripting or programming languages, demonstrating creativity and initiative.
