Job Title: Vessel Technical Director

This role involves overseeing the technical management and maintenance of assigned vessels to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation.

  • Vessel Performance Management: Monitor and manage vessel maintenance, repairs, and overall technical performance.
  • Dry Docking & Repairs: Plan, supervise, and coordinate dry-docking, major repairs, and maintenance schedules.
  • Operational Excellence: Prepare and manage operational budgets for vessel maintenance, repairs, and procurement of spare parts.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure vessels comply with international maritime regulations.
  • Safety & Environmental Standards: Ensure strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
  • Crew Development: Provide technical guidance and support to shipboard staff and ensure adequate training on new technologies.
  • Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular vessel inspections and audits to ensure technical integrity and compliance with company standards.
  • Incident Investigation: Assist in the investigation of technical incidents and accidents, providing reports and recommendations.
  • Supply Chain Management: Oversee procurement of spare parts, lubricants, and stores, ensuring cost-effective and timely supply.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Chief Engineer (COC Class 1) or equivalent seagoing experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in technical management of ships, preferably in bulk carriers, tankers, offshore vessels, or container ships.
  • Strong knowledge of ship repair, dry docking, and maintenance planning.
  • Familiarity with classification societies, flag state requirements, and international maritime regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using ship management software and MS Office applications.

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

  • Experience in managing a fleet of vessels and working with multinational crew and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills for budget and cost control.
  • Willingness to travel for ship inspections and attend dry dockings.
