Job Overview

This position oversees the IT project management function, ensuring successful execution of all IT projects.

The manager is responsible for implementing project management frameworks and overseeing the IT project portfolio.

In addition to owning the project management program, this role plays a hands-on management role for critical IT initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for project management standards and practices.
  • Supervise and mentor project managers including performance reviews, career growth, and training.
  • Create and maintain staffing plans for internal and external resources.
  • Analyse project proposals to determine timelines and required processes.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to project teams through all project phases.
  • Implement effective project communication, including steering committee meetings and status reports.
  • Manage project risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure alignment of project goals with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 7+ years' experience in project management of complex IT projects.
  • Deep understanding of agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Disciplined Agile, etc.).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Background in Business Analysis.
  • Proven experience managing an IT Portfolio or PMO.
  • Prior team leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing external vendors and contract staff.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and meet goals, define schedules, allocate resources, and implement processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in software product development life cycles.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services domain.
