Solution Architect Role
A ServiceNow Solution Architect is responsible for designing and delivering technical solutions to address specific business challenges.
The primary focus of the Solution Architect is on projects or functional areas within the broader enterprise framework, crafting solutions that meet immediate needs while fitting seamlessly into the organization's ecosystem.
They are accountable for the overall architecture, design, and integrity of ServiceNow applications under their purview, including enhancements to existing modules and the development of new capabilities on the platform.
Working closely with stakeholders and technical teams, the Solution Architect ensures that ServiceNow solutions are delivered following best practices, are scalable and secure, and deliver value to end-users.
Main Responsibilities:
- Gather requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into technical designs and architecture for ServiceNow solutions.
- Design data models, workflows, and integrations for new ServiceNow implementations or enhancements, ensuring compatibility with existing platform configurations and enterprise architecture standards.
- Lead the configuration and customization of ServiceNow modules (e.g., ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM, etc.) to meet requirements.
- Oversee the development of features such as forms, workflows, business rules, client scripts, and UI pages, ensuring they are built according to best practices and are maintainable.
- Integrate ServiceNow with other systems (such as identity management, ERP, CRM, monitoring tools) utilizing integration tools and APIs (REST/SOAP, IntegrationHub, MID Server).
- Act as the technical lead for ServiceNow implementation teams, providing guidance to developers and administrators, resolving design questions, and making decisions on trade-offs.
- Collaborate with QA teams and end-users to develop test plans for ServiceNow solutions, participating in system testing and user acceptance testing to verify that the solution meets functional requirements and performance expectations.
- Plan and coordinate go-live activities for new ServiceNow features or modules, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
Work Experience: Typically 5-10 years of overall IT experience, including 3-5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow experience.
ServiceNow Platform Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the ServiceNow platform, including its architecture and all major components.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in ServiceNow development technologies, including client-side and server-side scripting (JavaScript/Glide API), Flow Designer, and workflow configuration.
Analytical Aptitude: Excellent problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail, capable of analyzing complex requirements and constraints, and conceiving elegant solutions within the capabilities of ServiceNow.
