Backend Engineer Role Overview

The role of Backend Engineer involves developing the core functionality of software applications, focusing on scalability, performance, and reliability.

Key responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining APIs and microservices using NodeJS and Python, as well as architecting multi-tenant SaaS systems with proper data isolation and tenant management.

Additionally, you will be responsible for implementing GraphQL and RESTful APIs, building data processing pipelines and real-time systems, setting up and managing cloud infrastructure, and leveraging AI coding assistants to accelerate development workflows.

  • Design and implement scalable APIs and microservices.
  • Architect multi-tenant SaaS systems with robust security measures.
  • Implement high-performance APIs and data processing pipelines.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and monitoring systems.

Required skills and qualifications include expertise in NodeJS, proficiency in Python, experience with modern frameworks and architectural patterns, solid understanding of RESTful APIs and GraphQL service design, hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, and strong understanding of cloud services and deployment automation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong problem-solving and debugging skills with complex distributed systems, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high ownership and accountability, experience with agile development practices and version control, passion for sustainability and alignment with sustainable systems mission, and knowledge of GIS data processing and spatial analysis.
