Job Summary

Database administrators collaborate with application developers to design and optimize databases that meet application requirements within the z/OS environment. This involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of database services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing database architectures to support business growth and scalability.
  • Collaborating with application developers to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring optimal database performance.
  • Developing and implementing database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data availability and integrity.
  • Managing database security, configuring user roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing to protect sensitive data.

A key aspect of this role is staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of database management systems, including DB2, and experience working in a z/OS environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and incidents.
  • Analyzing and optimizing SQL and PL/SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and manipulation.
  • Implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions tailored for DB2 databases in the z/OS environment.
