As a seasoned IC design professional, you will play a pivotal role in the development of cutting-edge semiconductor and embedded system designs. Job Description:

We are seeking an expert in physical design to join our team. Your primary responsibilities will include top-level floor planning, placement, scan-chain-reordering, clock tree synthesis, timing optimization, SI aware routing, timing analysis/closure, and ECO tasks. You will also be working on 65nm or lower node designs with advanced low power techniques such as voltage islands, power gating, and substrate-bias.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Floor Planning: Create efficient and optimal layouts for complex IC designs
  • Placement: Ensure proper placement of components to minimize signal delay and optimize performance
  • Scan-Chain-Reordering: Optimize scan chain reordering for efficient test pattern generation
  • Clock Tree Synthesis: Design and optimize clock trees for minimized skew and jitter
  • Timing Optimization: Apply advanced timing optimization techniques to meet stringent timing requirements
  • SI Aware Routing: Implement SI-aware routing techniques to ensure reliable signal integrity
  • Timing Analysis/Closure: Perform thorough timing analysis and closure to guarantee design functionality
  • ECO Tasks: Execute engineering change orders to address design issues and improve performance

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
  • Interface with front-end ASIC teams to resolve design-related issues
  • Develop and maintain expertise in Cadence or Synopsys or Magma physical design tools
  • Leverage scripting languages such as PERL or TCL to automate design tasks
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and emerging technologies
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Extensive experience in ASIC physical design, particularly in floor planning, placement, and timing closure
  • Detailed knowledge of Cadence or Synopsys or Magma physical design tools
  • Strong background in scripting languages, preferably PERL or TCL
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritize work based on project needs and deadlines
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and analytical thinking
