Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical subject matter expertise for instrumented protective systems to support region squads and solutions program activities.
  • Deliver work for functional safety program/region work scopes, including self-verification of owned engineered barriers and performance standards.
  • Ensure inspection, testing, maintenance, and condition monitoring tasks in CMMS and Operator Workbench align with equipment strategies.
  • Develop and update technical content of equipment strategies based on equipment performance feedback and review efficiency of CMMS and Operator Workbench.
  • Perform reliability analysis for instrumentation, control, and electrical equipment using surveillance, maintenance, and condition monitoring data, and trends performance metrics.
  • Lead resolution of complex, multi-discipline technical issues where dominant component is instrumentation and protective systems.
  • Support instrument and protective systems engineering requests from production operations regions and assets, involving agile working, short-term deployment into PO squads to complete high-priority engineering requests or initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have degree or equivalent experience in mechatronics/instrumentation/chemical engineering/electrical.
  • Experience with instrumentation and functional safety at a refinery or petrochemical plant, including design, installation, and calibration of pressure sensing, fire and gas, level sensing, and valve actuation.
  • Ability to read and decipher regulations and industry codes, explain requirements to others, communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Benefits:

  • 8 years of relevant experience in oil and gas/petrochemical/refining/chemical or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer or registered professional engineer preferred, TUV certification also beneficial.

Others:

  • Knowledge of functional safety lifecycle, SIL calculations, SRS, protection systems, and related reviews.
  • Experience with providing instrument and protective systems engineering operational support to industrial assets, safe operation of equipment, reliability initiatives, and maintenance strategies.
