Global Tax Strategist

The ideal candidate will spearhead a team to navigate intricate tax regulations, drive tax-efficient strategies, and support business operations across the organization's global jurisdictions.

  • Tax Compliance:
    • Oversight of global tax compliance, encompassing corporate income tax, VAT/GST, transfer pricing, and other indirect taxes. Africa expertise is essential.
    • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and payments.
    • Collaborate with external tax advisors and local finance teams to manage compliance in various jurisdictions. Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, and assess their impact on the organization.
  • Tax Planning & Strategy:
    • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the organization's global tax position.
    • Identify opportunities for tax savings and incentives across different countries.
    • Advise senior management on the tax implications of business decisions, mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings.
    • Manage transfer pricing policies and ensure documentation is up-to-date.
  • Tax Accounting & Reporting:
    • Oversight of the preparation of tax provisions and disclosures in the financial statements.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., ASC 740, IFRS).
    • Coordinate with the finance team to integrate tax reporting with financial reporting processes.
    • Provide tax-related insights and analysis for quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identification and mitigation of tax risks through robust controls and processes.
    • Management of tax audits and disputes with tax authorities, ensuring favorable outcomes.
    • Maintenance of comprehensive and up-to-date tax records and documentation.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Leadership, mentoring, and development of a global team of tax professionals.
    • Fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
    • Setting performance goals, conducting regular evaluations, and providing feedback.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Collaboration with finance, legal, and business units to support global operations and initiatives.
    • Providing tax training and support to internal stakeholders.
    • Ensuring tax strategies align with the organization's overall business objectives.
