Compliance Project Manager - Personal Information Protection Act

This role involves leading the implementation of a compliance framework across all business units within a bank. As a project manager, you will be responsible for end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of the compliance program in alignment with Bermuda's equivalent data protection regulations.

The individual will conduct a comprehensive assessment of current data privacy policies, systems, and processes to identify gaps against PIPA requirements. They will work closely with legal, risk, IT security, compliance, and business units to define and implement appropriate controls for data collection, storage, access, and sharing.

A key responsibility will be to oversee the development of data mapping and inventory to identify all personal data processed by the organization. The project manager will establish governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and escalation paths to ensure compliance tracking and accountability.

They will manage vendor relationships and third-party assessments related to data processing and privacy. Additionally, they will design and facilitate training and awareness programs for staff on data protection principles and responsibilities under PIPA.

The project manager will prepare project plans, status reports, risk registers, and ensure timely delivery within budget and scope. They will serve as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies regarding PIPA-related matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience managing regulatory or compliance-driven projects, preferably in the financial services sector.
  • In-depth understanding of data privacy regulations (PIPA, GDPR, or similar).
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable business processes.
