About the Role:

The Solution Architect will play a crucial role in designing, describing, and managing functional solutions within the Securities Processing product as a back office, integrating with front office products to match client-specific business requirements.

This role involves ensuring that projects are clearly scoped and designed before commencing build, eliminating questions and uncertainties during the delivery phase. The Solution Architect will be involved in each stage of a project, from pre-contract scoping to go-live, participating in project implementation as part of the project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead presales efforts, working with internal and external clients to confirm project scope and classify exclusions, out-of-scope items, or associated complexity-related items.
  • Prepare Project Definition Reports (PDRs) and detailed delivery estimates as outputs of scoping sessions.
  • Support post-contract project design phases, collaborating with lead technical and business consultants from the delivery team.
  • Ensure design completeness and sufficient detail to enable build, defining and documenting the detailed solution at the initial stage.
  • Engage in high-level collaboration throughout the build phase, collaborating with the PS delivery team and engaging with the client to ensure build alignment with design.
  • Continued high-level engagement with the client and FIS project teams through UAT, parallel, and go-live phases to validate design quality.
  • Review build variance with the PS delivery team, identifying and understanding where and why any variance from the documented design has been applied.
  • Collaborate with practice managers to document market best practices.
  • Maintain a repository of knowledge, oversee user manual and release notes content.
  • Guide customers in implementation best practices and manage customer expectations to ensure project success.
  • Analyze business and user needs, translating them into proper system requirements and design specifications.
  • Complete system configuration per specifications.
  • Work with partner products/modules (e.g., Securities Lending Loanet, Smart Loan, Valdi OMS, Wealth Management, Securities finance revenue, short charges, Collateral, Reserve Regulatory Reporting, Fully Paid lending, and Segregation Manager) to ensure consistent and efficient integration between FIS products.
  • Liaise with internal groups, such as development staff and support teams, for additional interfaces and components build (e.g., API, FIX, Transmissions, and connectivity).
  • Assist and guide customers in writing test plans and test cases to ensure testing aligns with requirements.
  • Conduct various tests (system, quality, and peer reviews), ensuring configuration correctness per agreed-upon documentation and verifying that changes made to one part of the application do not impact others.
  • Deliver and document standardized product/application training to clients.
  • Provide consulting and support to clients as they configure the product.
  • Support sales and pre-sales efforts.
  • Work with client testing teams to create written test cases from business functional requirements.
  • Translate written test cases in scope using existing FIS test case templates.
  • Collaborate with internal automation test teams to assist and provide file flows, web utility navigation, and testing methodology.
  • Work with technical teams to assist, open, and document change tickets in SNOW for implementation changes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
  • 10-15 years of experience in running/managing Capital Market operations.
  • Ability to understand the full workflow for a brokerage house, how an order moves from front office OMS through the back office into a clearing system.
  • Functional knowledge about financial products to understand why applications are needed and what they are doing.
  • Ability to understand client business and translate it to product implementation.
  • High degree of problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of OMS (trade order management) systems, trade routing, and BO systems (Phase3, Broadridge, etc.).
  • Industry knowledge of Securities instruments, fixed income instruments, equities, Mutual funds, repo, reverse repo, and exposure to agencies like FICC/GSCC, MBSCC, DTCC, BONY, etc.
  • Presales/Sales support skills.
  • Overall, this role would be 70-80% functional and 20-30% technical.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial operational and business processes.
  • Knowledge of post-trade solutions.
  • Understanding buy and sell-side workflows.
  • Technical understanding of customer accounting: stock record, general ledger, margin accounting, portfolio, and P&L.
  • Working knowledge of broker or street-side processing: purchase, sales, segregation.
  • Understanding and preparing flows for various industry and proprietary FIS files in various formats (FIX, CSV, TXT, ASCII, PDF, and others).
  • End-to-end software implementation experience (preferably at a software vendor).
  • Understanding of the full IT project life cycle from requirements gathering through implementation and Go Live.
  • Industry experience in accounting, finance, or banking preferred.
