Operations Manager

The Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of a plastic recycling facility. This role requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of plastics and plastic recycling.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Aggregation Centre and Project Management: The Operations Manager will be responsible for navigating partnerships with companies, vendors, and stakeholders to source high-quality raw materials in loose/bale form (Polyolefins - HDPE and PP).
  • Scrap Segregation: The Operations Manager will manage scrap segregation based on quality standards, ensuring that all materials are properly sorted and processed.
  • Production Team Management: The Operations Manager will lead site-level production teams to meet planned production targets, developing strategies to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Go-to-Market Strategies: The Operations Manager will develop go-to-market strategies for sales among recyclers and manufacturers, collaborating with partners to add value to feedstock by converting it into washed flakes or granules.
  • Market Creation: The Operations Manager will create a market for various Polyolefin products (HDPE and PP), overseeing factory compliance and profit-and-loss accounts.
  • SOP Implementation: The Operations Manager will implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for plastic waste aggregation, segregation, QA, and QC (Polyolefins - HDPE and PP), continuously improving SOPs to optimize performance using Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma design processes.
  • Project Implementation: The Operations Manager will identify and implement key projects and kaizens to enhance productivity and hit targets, ensuring project implementation meets deadlines and approved budgets.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Progress Reporting: The Operations Manager will provide timely, concise, and accurate reports on daily, weekly, and monthly project progress, standardizing machine inspection check sheets, pre-dispatch check sheets, and operation check sheets at site level.
  • Segregation Quality: The Operations Manager will ensure segregation is carried out according to required quality standards.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Plastics Engineering; MBA an added advantage.
  • 5-7 years of operations experience.
  • Strong Sales/Customer relationship management skills, negotiation skills, vendor/stakeholder management skills, and excellent networking skills.
  • Good understanding of plastics and plastic recycling.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the organization's mission.
  • Fluent in English and Tamil; Hindi an advantage.
