Job Title: Financial Transaction Specialist

The Financial Transaction Specialist is responsible for accurately processing and reconciling financial transactions, ensuring the integrity of patient accounts and revenue cycle operations.

  • Process and reconcile payments from insurance companies, electronic funds transfers (EFTs), and patient payments into the dental billing software.
  • Verify Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and electronic remittance advices (ERAs) to identify discrepancies or errors in payment postings.
  • Flag and escalate discrepancies or trends in denied or unpaid claims to the relevant department.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate patient account balances, ensuring timely resolution of payment issues.
  • Collaborate with the appeals or collections team to resolve denied or unpaid claims.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately post insurance payments, EFTs, and patient payments into the dental billing system.
  • Reconcile deposits with bank statements and daily payment reports.
  • Review EOBs and ERAs for accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate with payers and patients regarding payment discrepancies or delays.
  • Meet productivity and accuracy goals set by management.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience of at least 2 years in financial transaction processing.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G-suite applications.
  • Experience with dental management software and electronic health records (EHRs).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in medical billing or coding.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance.
