About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Solar Design Expert to join our design team. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in creating 2D and 3D solar rooftop designs, with the ability to model solar panels, mounting structures, and rooftop obstacles accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create accurate 2D and 3D rooftop solar designs using SketchUp.
  • Develop sketchup models of solar panels, mounting structures, rooftop elements, obstacles, etc., with precise dimensions.
  • Design panel layouts that meet technical and structural requirements using the mounting structure library.
  • Incorporate rooftop obstacles into the design, such as water tanks, HVAC systems, and vents.
  • Making design decisions like:
  • Leaving space for cleaning and maintenance access.
  • Adding overhangs to maximize generation while ensuring safety and feasibility.
  • Creating multiple views and scenes in SketchUp to effectively communicate design intent.
  • Optimizing panel placement for maximum utilization of rooftop space while maintaining shading and clearance guidelines.
Requirements:

We require individuals with proven experience in SketchUp solar design, preferably for rooftop PV projects. Strong understanding of rooftop solar project requirements, shading considerations, and structural layouts is necessary. Ability to interpret technical inputs into workable models is essential.

  • Familiarity with solar mounting structures and their application within designs.
  • An attention to detail for accurate modeling and measurements.
  • Good visualization skills to create professional design presentations.
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative on minor design decisions.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Sketchup and Skalion would be an added advantage. Knowledge of solar engineering basics, including tilt, azimuth, orientation, shading, and generation estimates, would also be beneficial.
