Description:

The role of an Energy Storage Specialist involves designing and implementing electrical systems for battery-based energy storage solutions. This includes the design of power conversion systems (PCS), battery management systems (BMS), energy management systems (EMS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Designing electrical systems for battery-based energy storage solutions, including knowledge of PCS, BMS, EMS and SCADA systems.
  2. Familiarity with relevant codes, standards and regulations in the USA.
  3. Due diligence and owner's engineer experience, leading reviews of technical documents and installations to ensure compliance.
  4. Knowledge of fundamental aspects and main characteristics of current battery technologies and their relationship to battery parameters.
  5. Preparing FAT and integration test plans for BESS systems, and conducting technical reviews of documents provided by vendors.
  6. Project management of bids and projects throughout their life cycle.
  7. Conducting electrical testing using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and procedures.
  8. Attending training sessions on equipment as provided by the manufacturer and approved by manager.

Requirements:

  1. A minimum of 2 years' experience in BESS.
  2. A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, or a relevant engineering field. Candidates with a Ph.D. in similar fields are also welcome.
  3. The ability to read and comprehend electrical and mechanical schematics, technical manuals, procedures and regulations.
  4. Electrical knowledge and training experience of at least three years in BESS.
  5. Good organizational, communication, analytical, planning, time management and customer service skills.
  6. Competent skills in using Microsoft office software such as Outlook, Excel and Word.
  7. Client management, team management and process management skills.
  8. Familiarity with other electrical and PV software is an added advantage.
