Job Summary:

Bechtel is seeking an Electrical Systems Specialist to join our Project Management and Control (PMC) group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems and a good understanding of EHV substations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and select standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria to prepare and review conceptual studies, systems studies, design criteria, substation equipment sizing calculations, and layout engineering.
  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity.
  • Coordinate electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
  • Provide technical assistance and interact with project functions, clients, and regulatory agency personnel to resolve complex regulatory issues.
  • Assist project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and addressing issues as they arise during project execution.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of EHV GIS substations, including design of substations, layouts, single-line diagrams, protection and metering diagrams, control panel schematics, and electrical system studies.
  • Experience with short-circuit, load flow, and voltage drop calculations, relay setting and protection coordination of the system, cable sizing, and grounding.
  • Knowledge of equipment sizing, specifications, MR preparation, technical bid evaluation, and vendor print reviews of various electrical equipment, including CB/CT/PTs, SCADA, transformers, busducts/cable bus, GIS, MV, and LV switchgears, MCCs, DC systems/AC UPS, cables, etc.
  • Previous experience as a PMC is desirable.
