The Welding Segment Lead oversees all welding operations in shipbuilding. Key objectives include ensuring high-quality welds, adhering to classification society standards and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, and monitor welding activities for new ship construction, repair, and retrofit projects.
  • Ensure compliance with International Welding Standards (AWS, ASME, ISO, IACS) and customer requirements.
  • Supervise welder qualification and certification as per classification society guidelines (DNV, ABS, LR, IRS).
  • Develop welding procedures (WPS/PQR) for various materials used in shipbuilding.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to resolve welding-related technical issues.
  • E nsure adherence to safety protocols and promote safe work practices within the welding department.
  • Implement productivity improvement measures and monitor consumable usage.
  • Review and approve welding schedules, manpower allocation, and equipment maintenance plans.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of welding defects and ensure corrective actions.
  • Liaise with third-party inspectors and classification societies for welding inspections and approvals.
