Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Senior Welding Engineer to coordinate our welding processes, including the qualifications of our welders and ensuring that weld processes are completed according to applicable standards.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and mandatory certification from AWS/IWE/CSWIP. Hands-on experience in welding is essential, with additional certifications such as NDE (LPT, MPT, UT, and RT) being an added advantage.

Key responsibilities include qualifying welders and procedures for all grades of materials, positions, and diameters, renewing and maintaining records of all welder qualifications without any lapse, and providing vital support, supervision, and quality improvement for fabricated jobs at outsourced weld shops.

  • Qualify welders and procedures (WPS/PQR/WPQ) for all grades of materials, positions, and diameters.
  • Renew and maintain records of all welder qualifications without any lapse (PED, IBR, and ASME).
  • Acquire tools like gauges, torches, equipment, and consumables for hassle-free execution of welding activities.
  • Provide vital support, supervise, and improve quality of fabricated jobs for specific projects undertaken at outsourced weld shops.
  • Identify new suppliers for procuring welding consumables and procure necessary tools for measuring welding-related parameters for quality improvement.
  • Provide procedures and guidance to welders and heat treatment operators in performing in-house jobs on time.
  • Create intermediate part numbers and routing in Oracle related to welding and HT activities.
  • Submit procedures to inter-departments and justifications to comments raised by customers without delay.
  • Support activities pertaining to welding for obtaining ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications.
  • Coordinate with sub-contract teams for sending job work to weld shops and RT shops based on their approval.
  • Interact with product engineers and provide justifications to comments raised by customers for submitted procedures on time.
  • Daily monitor welding and heat treatment activities and maintain records.
  • Provide training to welders and heat treatment operators.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Mandatory certification from AWS/IWE/CSWIP.
  • Hands-on experience in welding.
  • NDE (LPT, MPT, UT, and RT) certification is an added advantage.
  • Experience in handling GTAW, SMAW, PAW, and GMAW.
  • Experience in fabrication and overlay welding.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Analytical skills with detail orientation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
