Seeking a pioneering Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) expert to spearhead aerospace simulation and design advancements. As part of our expansion, we aim to cultivate a team of innovators who can push the boundaries of fluid mechanics.

This role is perfect for individuals passionate about CFD simulations and aerodynamics, with a knack for collaborating in fast-paced environments.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Configure, execute, and analyze complex CFD simulations using OpenFOAM for 2D airfoils, 3D wings, and full aircraft models.
  • Penetrate flow regimes ranging from incompressible to hypersonic conditions.
  • Select suitable solvers, turbulence models, and thermophysical models based on simulation requirements.
  • Generate high-quality meshes utilizing OpenFOAM's native meshing tools or external pre-processors.
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts for automation of pre-processing, simulation control, and post-processing.
  • Extract and interpret aerodynamic performance metrics, such as lift, drag, pressure distribution, and shock characteristics.
  • Validate CFD results through comparison with experimental data or established literature.
  • Document simulation setups, assumptions, and findings for internal use and reporting.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with OpenFOAM for aerodynamic simulations.
  • Strong understanding of aerodynamics and fluid mechanics, including compressible and incompressible flows.
  • Able to simulate intricate geometries, encompassing full aircraft configurations.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting for CFD automation.
  • Experience with mesh generation tools compatible with OpenFOAM.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with hypersonic flow physics and associated modeling techniques.
  • Experience in HPC environments and parallel computing.
  • Knowledge of turbulence and transition modeling.
  • Exposure to aircraft design or UAV aerodynamics.
  • Additional CFD software expertise is a plus.
