Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Transformation Lead to join our team at Talent500.

About the Role:

The Digital Transformation Lead will be responsible for driving technical innovation and engineering unrivaled digital products to best serve American Airlines' customers and team members.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership:
  • Exhibit strong business and leadership skills, deep technology perspective to guide solutions, and strong communication skills to coordinate with Engineers to ensure they understand business needs and objectives, as well as technical requirements of products
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Collaborate with Business and IT leadership to execute and communicate organization's technical vision, mission, and work priorities, and drives progress towards roadmaps and ensures efficient technical product management and effective communication with stakeholders
  • Talent Development:
  • Create environment for delivery teams to be self-governing organizations who are accountable for their own performance and delivery commitments and measured accordingly
  • Incident Management:
  • Remove squad impediments and emphasizes cross-functional collaboration between roles
  • Decision Making:
  • Provide input on technology decisions, people management, and product features across all stages of product lifecycle
  • Communication:
  • Establish open lines of communication between engineering squads and IT leadership, and support clear adherence to business requirements
  • Team Management:
  • Facilitate and monitor clear Engineer check-ins, sprint deliverables, and open communication toward squads and stakeholders
  • Upskilling:
  • Drives forward increased technical upskilling across organization with education, programs, and metrics
  • Strategic Planning:
  • Manage Engineer staffing strategy to ensure alignment to Scrum and Agile principles and work closely with Scrum Lead
  • Technology Adoption:
  • Promote use of industry leading technology trends and continuously assess AA IT needs and areas for improvement
  • Leadership:
  • Leads, develops, and mentors a high performing engineering team of individuals with a diverse range of technical skills and experiences
  • Continuous Learning:
  • Exhibits a desire for continuous learning and sharing of new knowledge within the organization
  • Staffing & Performance:
  • Responsible for the hiring and managing of squad members, including staffing and performance reviews as well
  • Budget Management:
  • Responsible for budget management and forecasting
  • Support & Escalation:
  • Manages production issues and off-hours support, communication, and coordination, as needed
  • Availability:
  • Works extended hours occasionally, based on the needs of the project and the operation

Requirements:

We require the following qualifications for this role:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • Experience:
  • 5 years of experience participating in delivery of solutions using ITIL / Agile / XP, or similar methodologies
  • Leadership Experience:
  • 3 years of experience leading product teams

Preferred Qualifications:

While not required, it is desirable if you have:

  • Airline Industry Experience:
  • Airline industry experience, including engineering / business processes and supporting technology Skills, Licenses & Certifications
  • NIMS Certification:
  • 4+ hours National Incident Management System (NIMS), Incident Command System (ICS), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) certification time or equivalent

Skills Required:

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Engineering Mindset:
  • Engineering Mindset, familiarity with IT infrastructure, networking, and server management. Problem Solving & Critical Thinking, Managing Team Performance & Development
  • IT Incident Response:
  • 2+ years of IT Incident Response experience or equivalent
  • Platform Proficiency:
  • Proficiency with platforms like ServiceNow, Cherwell, Dynatrace, AI Ops, XMatters
  • Leadership:
  • Proven track record in leading Engineering initiatives that generate substantial value; well organized, able to multi-task, able to prioritize with minimal direction
  • Agile Methodology:
  • Strong technical leadership, and extensive experience in Agile methodology-style leadership environment
  • Change Management:
  • Understanding change management processes to minimize service disruption
  • Effective Communication:
  • Knowledge of effective communication practices during incidents, including escalation processes
  • Business Acumen:
  • Excellent communication skills to present to executive management often and emphasize the important intersection of business and technology
  • Multiproject Management:
  • Proven ability to handle multiple products/work streams and demands efficiently
  • Global Support:
  • Experience in leading a team of individuals with various levels of skills and experience in potentially high stress and challenging situations
  • Flexibility:
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environment
  • Financial Skills:
  • Basic financial skills
  • NIMS Certification:
  • 4+ hours National Incident Management System (NIMS), Incident Command System (ICS), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) certification time or equivalent
  • Shift Timings:
  • Shift timings as this would require global support hence the candidate should be comfortable working in 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. / 1:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. (IST)

Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum
