Risk Management Officer

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Control Management Officer to join our Global Non-Operations Control Team. This role is part of a growing team that focuses on strengthening the control environment, promoting self-identification of issues, ensuring control effectiveness and sustainability, and supporting early escalation of risks, concerns, and issues. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, a team-first mindset, and acumen in relationship building to drive results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead complex initiatives designed to mitigate current and emerging risks with broad impact
- Act as a key participant in monitoring, evaluating, and measuring the impact of decisions practiced in Control Management functional area
- Monitor moderately complex business-specific programs and provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk-mitigation strategies
- Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area
- Perform issue management activities across the Issues Management lifecycle to issues and corrective actions, including root cause identification, issue intake, development of corrective actions, and identification of controls and in-region impact, as well as any related intake and closure requirements
- Collaborate globally with Control teams, independent risk management, and audit to ensure effective responses are provided and potential risks and concerns are addressed
- Partner with the business to identify, assess, manage, and mitigate current and emerging risk exposures within Control Management functional area
- Collaborate with relevant business groups to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations and provide guidance in developing and implementing risk-mitigating strategies
- Lead Control Management projects across virtual teams
Requirements:
- 5+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills to effectively influence all organizational and leadership levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are a must
- Highly organized and proactive with demonstrated ability to assess, exercise independent judgment, apply prudent risk management principles, prioritize work to meet deadlines, and proactively escalate when necessary
- Ability to be flexible and adjust plans quickly to adapt to changing business needs. Hands-on style; proven ability to structure tasks or projects, execute, and achieve targeted results and develop and manage associated goals and plans
- Intellectual curiosity with proven ability to learn quickly through others as well as to conduct their own research and analysis
- Ethical integrity and demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and apply prudent risk mitigation principles
- Prior experience as a Business Control Management (BCM)
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment while prioritizing critical path
- Experience assessing control design and performance through testing, audit, or Risk Control Self-Assessment practices
- Experience assessing processes, procedures, and identifying controls
