Electrical Systems Engineer Job Description

About this job:

As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing high-voltage power electronics systems for electrified powertrain projects.

This is a challenging position that requires strong technical knowledge of chargers, converters, inverters, electric machines, batteries, thermal management, EMI/EMC, and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform electrical systems engineering and failure analysis to ensure robust design and issue resolution.
  • Apply your expertise in power electronics systems, including chargers, converters, inverters, electric machines, batteries, thermal management, EMI/EMC, and mechanical systems.
  • Act as the electrical subject matter expert for HV powertrain systems, providing guidance and support to cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate and manage electrical specifications across multiple system components and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Conduct electrical modelling and simulation for power electronics and powertrain integration to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Drive system-level requirements engineering and ensure verification through traceable validation methods to guarantee quality and reliability.
  • Investigate root causes of quality issues using structured methodologies like 8D and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Support development of DFMEA, Functional Safety (ISO 26262) activities, and overall powertrain integration to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering; Master's degree desirable.
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in high-voltage power electronics systems, preferably with BEV, MHEV, and PHEV powertrain architectures and technologies.
  • Familiarity with complex high-voltage system design and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
