Chief Tax Strategist

We are seeking a highly experienced professional to lead our tax strategy, with a minimum of 15 years of hands-on expertise in both direct and indirect taxation. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, strategic thinking ability, compliance management, and leadership skills to handle complex tax matters across multiple jurisdictions.

• Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee corporate income tax compliance including return filings, advance tax, assessments, and appeals.
• Formulate tax-efficient structures and advise on business transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and cross-border arrangements.
• Handle transfer pricing documentation, audits, and benchmarking.
• Manage tax litigation – prepare submissions, represent before authorities, and liaise with external consultants/counsels.
• Monitor changes in direct tax laws, analyze their impact, and implement compliance mechanisms.
• Ensure accurate provisioning for tax and deferred tax in financial statements.

• Oversee GST compliance including registrations, return filings, reconciliations, and audits.
• Manage GST refund claims, input tax credit reconciliations, and resolution of notices.
• Ensure proper classification, valuation, and taxability of goods/services under GST & Customs.
• Advise on structuring of transactions to ensure tax efficiency and compliance.
• Handle indirect tax litigations and represent the organization before authorities.
• Keep abreast of evolving indirect tax laws and implement necessary process improvements.

• Develop and implement tax strategy aligned with business goals.
• Lead interactions with tax authorities, consultants, and auditors.
• Guide and mentor internal finance & tax teams.
• Ensure strong internal controls and automation in tax processes.
• Act as a trusted advisor to management on complex tax and regulatory issues.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of Direct Tax (Income Tax, Transfer Pricing, International Tax) and Indirect Tax (GST, Customs, Excise).
• Proven experience in tax litigation, assessments, and dispute resolution.
• Excellent understanding of Indian tax laws, FEMA, and related regulatory frameworks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking ability.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Up-to-date with tax reforms, judicial precedents, and industry practices.
