Atmospheric Chemistry Specialist

About the Role:

This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of environmental data.

  • We seek an experienced Environmental Chemist to validate laboratory data packages according to USEPA guidelines, guaranteeing compliance with published analytical methods and usability of environmental data.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for uploading laboratory analytical data to client and regulatory databases.
  • A strong background in relational database systems like Earth Soft EQuI S, Locus EIM, MS Access, or similar environment databases is required.
  • As a key member of our team, you will prepare technical memoranda and white papers to be included in client deliverables.
  • You will also implement innovation and automation tools produced by the team.
Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have expertise in task management, workload allocation, and flexible working hours to support colleagues across different geographical regions.

A proficiency in Level 2 and 3 data validation is mandatory, while experience in Level 4 validation is highly valued but not essential.

You will collaborate with project chemists to provide quality assurance/quality control, data management, data analysis, and various analytical chemistry aspects of environmental investigations for our clients.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years' relevant experience in a Quality Control laboratory or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of requests from environmental subject matter experts.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with environmental chemistry principles and analytical chemistry principles (i.e., quality assurance and quality control) is necessary.
  • Experience with data validation, data review, field screening, data management, and sampling plans is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as E QuI S or Microsoft Access is a plus.
  • Proficiency in data validation and understanding of valid qualifiers and reason codes is mandatory.
  • Knowledge or experience with the analytical challenges presented by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) is desirable.
  • Experience performing chemical analysis (Quality control) in an academic or commercial setting is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Three to five years or more of relevant experience in a Quality Control laboratory or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
