Project Manager - Personal Information Protection Act

This role requires a skilled Project Manager to oversee the implementation of the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) compliance framework across all business units within a reputable bank based in Bermuda.

  • The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing regulatory or compliance-driven projects, preferably in the financial services sector.
  • They must possess in-depth knowledge of data privacy regulations and be able to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable business processes.

In this role, you will lead the development of a comprehensive data mapping and inventory to identify all personal data processed by the organization, establish governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and escalation paths to ensure compliance tracking and accountability.

  • You will also design and facilitate training and awareness programs for staff on data protection principles and responsibilities under PIPA.
  • Analyze vendor relationships and third-party assessments related to data processing and privacy.
  • Prioritize stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills are essential for success in this position.

To succeed as a Project Manager for the PIPA compliance initiative, you should possess strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive PIPA compliance program.
  2. Lead the implementation of the PIPA compliance framework across all business units.
  3. Conduct a thorough analysis of current data privacy policies, systems, and processes.
  4. Work closely with Legal, Risk, IT Security, Compliance, and Business Units to define and implement appropriate controls for data collection, storage, access, and sharing.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience managing regulatory or compliance-driven projects, preferably in the financial services sector.
  • In-depth understanding of data privacy regulations (PIPA, GDPR, or similar).
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable business processes.
