Unlock AI Innovation in ProductionWe're looking for a seasoned Backend Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our crew, you'll work closely with our data and product teams to develop cutting-edge AI features.Our ideal candidate has 6-10 years of experience in backend engineering with a strong focus on Node/TypeScript in production environments. They should also have hands-on experience with event-driven design, retries/idempotency, CI/CD, and observability.The successful candidate will be responsible for building and owning production Node/TypeScript services with strong contracts, retries, idempotency, and observability. They will also integrate LLM/NLP APIs with guardrails and cost/timeout controls, implement orchestration for multi-step flows, and define data contracts and storage needed for AI features.Bonus points if you have experience with RAG patterns, vector stores, or prompt evaluation frameworks, as well as fintech or document-heavy workflows like PDF parsing and OCR pipelines.Key responsibilities include:
  • Designing and developing AI-enabled features that meet stakeholder requirements
  • Collaborating with the data team on what to log for evaluation and retraining
  • Instrumenting services with metrics, tracing, and alerting
  • Closely working with product and UK stakeholders to demo progress and gather feedback
What You'll NeedTo succeed in this role, you'll need:
  • 6-10 years of backend engineering experience with a focus on Node/TypeScript in production environments
  • Hands-on experience with event-driven design, retries/idempotency, CI/CD, and observability
  • Ability to integrate LLM/NLP APIs with guardrails and cost/timeout controls
