Backup and Storage Engineer Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement backup solutions utilizing VEEAM Backup tool, while having secondary knowledge of Commvault, PPDM, Azure, Avamar, Networker, Arcserve, and Rubrik.
  • Acquire comprehensive understanding of various backup technologies such as File/Server Backup, Exchange archival, BareMetal Backup, Cloud backup, Database Backup, Virtual Host Backup, and system restores.
  • Identify and rectify backup/recovery service disruptions through proactive measures.
  • Conduct regular backups environment system tuning to ensure optimal performance.
  • Manage schedules, execute ad hoc backup requests, and monitor all backups in a timely manner with troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Perform routine disaster recovery scenarios, troubleshoot replication errors, and maintain backup policies and standards.
  • Ensure the upkeep of backup equipment including servers, disk, and tape storage devices.
  • Continuously research and audit to guarantee continuous high levels of network and operating systems availability, performance, and security.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Provide tier-one operational support for storage environments, maintaining ownership and technical expertise.
  • Troubleshoot complex storage issues, provide cost-effective solutions that meet customer requirements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Storage allocation, de-allocation, and expansion management.
  • Deep understanding of storage and SAN switches.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of RAID, SCSI, SAN, and NAS. iSCSI experience is a plus.
  • Ability to adopt new storage and backup activities, as well as capacity planning.
