Executive Housekeeper Job Description

The Executive Housekeeper plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of hotel housekeeping and laundry services. This highly skilled professional oversees all aspects of guestroom cleaning, public area maintenance, and staff management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instituting standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies for optimal efficiency.
  • Directing daily housekeeping operations, maintaining exceptional cleaning standards in guestrooms and public areas.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to guests.
  • Developing training programs for staff development and improvement.
  • Overseeing departmental training and revising relevant manuals as necessary.
  • Creating balanced working schedules for team members and managing payroll effectively.
  • Evaluating team member performance on a regular basis.
  • Addressing team member concerns and providing support to resolve issues.
  • Conducting regular room inspections to ensure high cleaning standards are maintained.
  • Inspecting guestroom floors, back-of-house areas, offices, and public spaces to guarantee cleanliness and upkeep.
  • Supervising daily laundry operations, including handling guest laundry, uniforms, linen, and cost control.
  • Holding daily briefings with managers and supervisors to communicate VIP arrivals, guest complaints, and special assignments.
  • Facilitating regular housekeeping communication meetings to discuss team feedback, rectify errors, and share special instructions.
  • Participating in related meetings to exchange ideas for constructive hotel operation improvement and staying informed about management decisions.
  • Maintaining effective communication with the Engineering team regarding guestroom repairs and maintenance, ensuring rooms remain in good condition.
  • Collaborating with the Front Office to coordinate room blocking for special repairs or deep cleaning and expedite return to sale.
  • Preparing and presenting annual uniform budgets, FFE, and operating equipment budgets to the Director of Operations.
  • Ensuring purchased items meet quality and quantity standards, controlling department expenses, and adhering to hotel budgets.
  • Meeting with suppliers or external consultants to stay up-to-date with the latest cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Adhering to hotel security and emergency policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in hospitality or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in housekeeping or related field.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
