Printed Circuit Board CAD Design Engineer

As a key member of our design team, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative printed circuit board designs. Your technical expertise and experience in software development and design will be instrumental in creating high-quality PCBs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electronics and electrical engineering principles. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining PCB CAD libraries, including schematic symbols, footprints, and parametric data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain PCB CAD libraries to ensure accurate and reliable design data.
  • Generate footprints for surface mount devices (SMD), through-hole technology (THT), connectors, and complex IC packages according to IPC-7351 standards.
  • Validate bill of materials (BOMs), electrical attributes, package information, and component descriptions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Cross-check datasheets, schematics, and footprints to ensure accuracy in pin sequencing and package details.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to ensure manufacturability and compliance.
  • Maintain documentation and follow standard naming conventions to ensure smooth library integration with electronic computer-aided design (ECAD) and mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) tools.
Required Skills & Tools:
  • CAD Tools: Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics Expedition, OrCAD/Capture CIS.
  • PLM Systems: Windchill, Target PLM, Teamcenter, Cockpit Server.
  • Standards & Compliance:
    • IPC-7351 for footprint creation and validation.
    • RoHS and REACH compliance understanding.
  • Library Management:
    • Creation and maintenance of schematic symbols, footprints, and 3D models.
    • BOM validation and part numbering systems.
    • Use of footprint calculators like LP Wizard and Footprint Expert.
