Job Title: Maritime Vetting Coordinator

Job Description:

The role of a Maritime Vetting Coordinator is to ensure the safety and compliance of vessels and terminals operating on Shell's business. This involves assessing the risk of sub-standard ships, dry bulk carriers, and project vessels proposed for use by Shell Group Companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Safe Port, Safe Berth, including terminals and STS locations owned, operated, or used by vessels on Shell business as detailed in the Transport Safety Standard, Maritime Safety, and the Vetting Manual.
  • Ensure all ports, terminals, and berths are timely assessed for the business.
  • Work on various Continuous Improvement projects in the Maritime Ports Terminal Portfolio.
  • Be a key member of the team managing the input and maintenance of the Global Maritime Assurance System (GMAS) in relation to marine locations.
  • Assess risk related information pertaining to individual terminals and berths, introducing risk mitigation measures where applicable.
  • Maintain the Port Facts database by liaising with Port Facts IT custodians to ensure that new ports are added in a manner that matches and integrates with the rest of the IT systems.

Requirements:

  • A Class 2 Deck Certificate of Competency issued by a recognized flag or equivalent shore-based maritime experience.
  • At least 36 months actual sea service as junior deck officer on ocean seagoing tankers, sea service in this instance means actual accumulated time on board as sea service and not calendar years as a certified officer aboard tankers, LNG, LPG, Chemical, Crude, or Products.
  • Relevant tanker terminal experience at Ship Shore interface could be considered, interface with vessels at dock.
  • Recent operational or business experience that can be utilized to manage current and emerging maritime risks.
  • Evidence of resilience and ability to successfully manage challenge and conflict.
  • Proven stakeholder management.
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
