Project Manager - Financial Services

This role oversees the IT project portfolio and ensures successful execution of all IT projects. As a hands-on project manager, you will lead critical IT initiatives and drive continuous improvements.

Key responsibilities include managing IT portfolio processes, implementing project management standards across the IT project portfolio, supervising and mentoring project managers and coordinators, developing staffing plans for internal and external resources, analyzing project proposals to determine timelines and funding requirements, and providing leadership and motivation to project teams throughout all project phases.

  • Manage IT Portfolio Processes: Planning, governance, and resource capacity management are essential components of this role.
  • Implement Project Management Standards: Across the IT project portfolio, our organization relies on standardized practices and procedures.
  • Supervise and Mentor Team Members: Providing guidance and support to junior team members is crucial in this position.
  • Develop Staffing Plans: For both internal and external resources, creating effective staffing plans is vital.
  • Analyze Project Proposals: Timelines, funding requirements, and necessary processes must be carefully evaluated.
  • Provide Leadership and Motivation: Throughout all project phases, fostering a collaborative and motivated team environment is essential.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field is required.
  • At least 7 years' experience in managing complex IT projects is necessary.
  • A deep understanding of agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Disciplined Agile) is essential.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly valued.
  • A background in Business Analysis is beneficial.
  • Proven experience managing an IT portfolio or PMO is preferred.
  • Prior team leadership/supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Experience managing external vendors and contract staff is valuable.
