Senior Aquaculture Specialist

Aquaculture is a vital component of rural livelihoods in Assam, with the potential to enhance fish production and strengthen aquaculture-based value chains. We are seeking an expert to lead the development of aquaculture practices that promote productivity, profitability, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership in aquaculture development, including pond management, seed and feed quality, hatchery operations, and fish health management.
• Design and implement strategies to enhance productivity, profitability, and sustainability of aquaculture practices.
• Support the formation and strengthening of community-based aquaculture groups, cooperatives, and producer organizations.
• Promote climate-smart and environmentally sustainable aquaculture practices to improve resilience.

We are looking for a professional with strong expertise in smallholder aquaculture systems, sustainable farming practices, and resource management. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in a relevant field and over 10 years of experience in aquaculture development or related projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Master's degree in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, Zoology, Rural Development, or related discipline from a recognized institution.
• 10+ years of professional experience in aquaculture development, fisheries management, or rural livelihood projects.
• Strong expertise in smallholder aquaculture systems, sustainable farming practices, and resource management.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, facilitation, and reporting skills. Proficiency in English is essential, while knowledge of Assamese/local languages is an advantage.
