Job Title: Piping Stress Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Analysis:
    • Conduct comprehensive stress analysis for sustained, thermal expansion, and pressure loads on critical and non-critical piping systems.
    • Perform advanced dynamic analyses, including seismic, wind load, slug flow, fluid transient, acoustic-induced vibration, and flow-induced vibration checks.
    • Model and analyze complex systems, including those connected to critical equipment such as turbines, compressors, pumps, reactors, and pressure vessels.
    • Conduct specialized analyses for jacketed, buried, and cryogenic piping systems.
    • Perform offshore-specific analysis for FPSO topsides, platforms, and other offshore facilities.
  • Support and Load Design:
    • Select and design standard and special piping support components, including spring hangers, snubbers, expansion joints, and guides.
    • Communicate accurate load data to civil and structural engineering teams for foundation, pipe rack, and equipment design.
    • Evaluate reinforcement requirements at pipe supports, branch connections, and trunnions.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare project-specific piping stress specifications and design basis documents.
    • Issue stress critical line lists, marked-up isometrics showing stress-related requirements, and detailed stress analysis reports for client approval.
    • Prepare technical requisitions and datasheets for specialty piping items procurement.
  • Quality and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with international codes and standards such as ASME B31 series, API standards, and relevant client specifications.
    • Participate in project review meetings to address piping-related issues.
    • Review and approve vendor documentation and drawings for equipment and specialty items to confirm compliance with stress analysis requirements.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination:
    • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Process, Structural) to manage interfaces and communicate loads.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to construction, commissioning, and operations teams to resolve field issues.
    • Collaborate with the procurement team by performing technical bid evaluations of vendor offers for piping supports and specialty items.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in piping stress engineering, with a focus on design and analysis.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in piping stress analysis software, such as Caesar II or AutoPIPE.
    • Knowledge of international codes and standards, such as ASME B31.3 and API 579.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
