Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our team of engineers in delivering high-quality components for Ubuntu. This is a fast-paced, problem-solving role that operates at the core of Linux server systems.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Linux and Ubuntu, as well as exceptional leadership skills. They will be responsible for planning, estimation, and execution, working closely with product management to define the vision and strategy for Ubuntu.

In this role, you will be expected to lead and inspire your team, drive technical delivery, and positively influence the culture. You will also work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on product architecture and roadmaps.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Extensive experience working with Linux distributions and packaging technologies (e.g. deb, rpm)
  • Proven track record of managing or leading a team of software engineers
  • High-quality software engineering knowledge in one or more of: Linux system architecture, boot process, Java/GCC/Python/Rust/Go toolchains, ARM and/or RISC-V
  • Engagement with open source communities and processes
