IBM i Developer Role

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a seasoned IBM i developer to lead our team in delivering cutting-edge applications and products using various software technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IBM i/AS400 platform and RPG IV/RPG Free Format, CLLE, and ILE concepts.

  • Familiarity with OMS, Inventory, WMS, and PO modules is essential for success in this role.
  • A deep understanding of DB2/400 – physical/logical files, SQL, journaling, triggers is required to effectively design and implement database solutions.
  • The ability to debug code using STRDBG, job logs, and error analysis is critical for identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Experience with batch jobs, interactive screens, menus, and subfiles will enable you to develop robust and user-friendly interfaces.
  • Familiarity with file-based integrations and data exchange formats (EDI, XML, CSV) will facilitate seamless data exchange between systems.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining technical documentation for projects and processes.
  • Creating modular code and encouraging reuse to ensure efficiency and scalability.
  • Participating in code reviews to maintain high-quality standards and best practices.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders to provide updates and status on ongoing projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field.
  • At least 12 years of experience on IBM i/AS400 platform.
  • Proficiency in RPG IV/RPG Free Format, CLLE, and ILE concepts.
  • Strong debugging skills using STRDBG, job logs, and error analysis.
  • Experience with batch jobs, interactive screens, menus, and subfiles.
  • Familiarity with file-based integrations and data exchange formats (EDI, XML, CSV).

Preferred Skills:

  • API development on IBM i using Open Access or web services.
  • Change Management tools (Aldon, Turnover, Rocket, etc.).
  • Business workflows in the supply chain or retail domain.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and client interaction skills.
