Job Role:

The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and optimisation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, inspect, maintain and repair all types of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems including air conditioners, chillers, furnaces, air handlers, and ventilation units.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance of HVAC equipment and components.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in HVAC systems and recommend effective solutions and alternatives.
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and manufacturer specifications and instructions.
  • Adjust system controls to improve performance and efficiency and meet energy standards.
  • Test and balance air and hydronic systems to meet performance and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records, documenting all work performed and completed.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health regulations, building codes and environmental regulations.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls and requests.
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other technicians to resolve complex system issues and problems.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an HVAC Technician or similar role and position.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical components, refrigeration cycles, and technologies.
  • Ability to use HVAC tools, gauges, diagnostic equipment, and software.
  • Understanding of safety procedures, protocols and guidelines.
  • Good problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and withstand varying weather conditions.
  • Diploma/ITI/Technical certification in HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical or related field.
